First days of filming

Starting the filming

Everyone seemed to be happy with the first draft of the storyboard, so I didn´t add anymore scenes. I just fixed it up, added some detail and coloured it in. I loved making This.

I helped with the treatment, but Rodrigo finished it up and wrote the final thing (below). Others did the rest of the paperwork, but I think it was mostly Alya.

We finally finished all our paper work and Alya got us the permission to shoot on West street. I was very happy to get it all done so we could finally start filming. (It all seemed to take a long time, and there were problems with it)
Here was our call sheet for the first day.

On the first day (29.11)  we filmed a lot on the West street for our day time sequences. We got wide shots of the street, people walking, setting up shops, interesting lights and shadows. We also filmed the blue sky, some clouds and the sun. We were lucky it was sunny that day and I´m happy we filmed then, because we don´t know if the weather is gonna be as good on any other day. Since our documentary is about light, getting some shots on a sunny day was a really good thing.
In the evening we filmed and interviewed the kebab men. I was very happy that we got an interview done, it feels like we are really making progress. I though it went well, they were all very happy to talk and very friendly and I think they said some good stuff we can use. Rodrigo was filming with the XF 305 while I filmed a bit with my dslr, so we could get different angles for the interview. I also filmed some other bits, like them making the food. I also got some good shots of the moon, I don´t know if they are gonna be used.
After this we went and filmed some pubs, street lights and the bus stop too. Alya, Flora and I stayed the latest I think, to get as many night time shots as we could before freezing.
Overall I think this was a really good and succesful day of filming. I feel happy with everyhting and I think we are making good progress.
Later on we actually found that a lot of the footage was unusable as the lense of the xf305 was so dirty. Especially on the brighter shots you could see all the dirt and even a small hair. This was annoying and meant a lot of our day time footage had to be refilmed, which Flora and I did later on (after cleaning the lense with my lense cleaning kit)

Alya, Flora and I checking the equipment and setting up the camera.

All of us filming outside, luckily it was a sunny day

2nd day (30.11)

On Saturday we went to film the sunset timelapse. It was meant to be all of us together, but it ended up just being me, Flora and Alya. We set our tripod and camera on the hill next to the castle in Farnham park, where I had gone a couple of nights before. I found that the view was really nice and as it was dark I could see all the lights of the town, so I thought that the location would be perfect for the timelapse. We filmed the sunset for over an hour, so in the edit we could speed it up and get a timelapse of Farnham getting darker. (It was freezing.)  I'm really happy with the result. You can see the sky going pitch black and lights turning on. I also really like all the little moving bits, like cars going past and flashing traffic lights. This was also one shot that we have planned in advance (a lot of our filming is gonna be just capturing things we like at the moment) so I was happy to get it done so early on. We willdefinetely be using this in the final film.
Afterwards we went and filmed more night shots, so we actually ended up having more night shots then daytime. We maybe could have gotten there a bit earlier, as the sky was already a bit dark when we got there, but that's only a minor problem.

Me, in the park, after we set up the camera.
