SCREEN CAPTURING, first mini project of year two

Our first mini project this year was to create a short 2 minute video using screen recording. I thought this was a very interesting experience as I hadn´t previously thought about screen recording as a way of telling a story.
I chose Romeo and Juliet because it´s one of the most classic stories ever written. I thought it would be interesting to tell this old tale in this new, modern experimental way, because of the juxtaposition it creates. I also added the maps and networks element to it, by having Romeo stalk Juliets location online. He finds her house on google maps and then sneaks up on her.
I couldn´t quite do what I had originally planned, because it turns out the screen recording program (xbox game bar) I had already on my laptop has limitations. I couldnt film my desktop, only things that were open, which was a shame. I had already changed my background to Verona to "set the scene" in a way, then I was going to open everything up. In the end though, it didnt matter too much. I still managed to do what I wanted and had fun with it. I used power point at some point which I thought was funny. It had never crossed my mind before to use power point in a video like this. I added a couple of sound effects in the edit, the music was part of the recording. I thought some of them were quite funny, I´m especially thinking about the Capulets and Montagues fighting at the beginning.
I look forward to our future project this year!

  1. Lili, this is brilliant, I don't understand the technical stuff as you know but you tell the story explained in the synopsis above very well. It is clear that you enjoy your work.
