AE problems, premiere and audition

I had lots of issues with the exporting of my film. The picture above showed up during my last export but didnt seem to affect the arm scene at all. All the effects on it were fine so that was strange. The picture below on the left is what it often said before exporting. None of my files were missing though. The image on the right I put in to show that during the export the video would preview completely normally.

I decided to bring in the after effects file into premiere. I took my best exports and sticthed them together. I also slowed the whole thing down to play at 90% of its original speed. I can stilll see that it is sped up, I think its most notable with the lions, you can see how fast the grass blades move in the wind. I dont think its a massive problem though, and I didnt want to slow it down too much, in case it became very jumpy. I also fixed bits where there were blank screens like in the picture below. Because it was so slow in after effects I couldnt tell if things were timed right. They were very noticable in premiere though, so I cut those bits out.

I´m happy that I got a full minute, loopable video, depsite all the difficulties I had. Here are some issues I had with the final export I gave in:

All of the videos that were off my phone were quite glitchy. They´re all jumpy, sped up or they loop. I´ve underlined two of them in orange on the picture above. I´m not sure why it did that, but maybe it’s because they were different file types. I would have looked into that if I had more time. Another problem with this scene was what I circled in red. That should have been a video of my I took on my webcam. It also must have been a different file type, because of the way it has reacted. During the edit in after effects it didn´t look like that, or complain about any problem. The last thing I´ve circled in yellow is a bad editing problem. There are a couple of points like this that I didn’t notice in the bad quality edit. I really don’t like the way it looks, so again, if I had more time, I would’ve fixed it. Hopefully, it is not too noticeable to anyone watching. I also wanted to mention the emptiness. If I could have I would have added even more stuff, because at the moment I don’t feel like its very overwhelming. I would have liked more social media notifications, maybe add a video of scrolling through Instagram, more news articles, mores missed calls, fun videos, infographics etc. But as it was already too much to handle for After Effects I couldn´t.

The very ending was also frustrating as I noticed that the video of Laura was too big and was going beyond its one screen line. It is very noticeable as you can see in the photo. It would’ve been quite easy to resize that, but its too late now.

There were also some bits where I noticed glitches in the effects, like in the photo. I tried to get a burning effect of one of my swimming videos. It sort of worked apart from the green glitches. I also would’ve worked more on the glowing I had below. I think it could’ve been fun to play around more, but most of my time went into figuring stuff out. I only started to work things out towards the end. I also don´t know why some of the bubbles in the background were half cut. I definitely would have fixed that too.

I´m happy with the effects I made for the arm. I used a video that was a test for our experimental media film for green screen testing. I used the keylight effect to try to get the paint as flat as possible and I think that worked really well. I then used the liquify tool on my fingers applying the paint, which I think looks cool. I added some glow and a mask to make the edges soft. I also played around a bit with the hue/saturation and other colour correction tools. For what is under the arm I used the starburst effect which was fun. My only problem with this is the text layer. Clearly, I didn’t get to do what I wanted to. If I had more time and computer power I would have looked more into graphics and all the things you can do with text, to elaborate more on what Angie Taylor showed us. I figured out how to make it move on a path but I was going to do more with it and more of them. Now its alone and very random. Its almost in the way of the arm.

the effects I used for the arm

I did the audio in audition. I wanted it to sound very uncomfortable and annoying. I used the elvis sinatra Song clip again, but I played around with it more. I also used some recordings Flora and I had done before. The tones were there to be frustrating and to get louder.
